Ben Kemp, JD

Ben is an associate at Sissel Law, where he focuses his practice on estate planning, trust and estate litigation, and general civil litigation. A Des Moines native, Ben provides his clients with a sophisticated level of advocacy informed by his background in both the judicial and private sectors. Ben earned his Bachelor of Arts from Iowa State University in 2017 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2020. 

After law school, he gained a unique perspective on the appellate process while serving as a judicial law clerk for the Iowa Court of Appeals. Following his clerkship, Ben practiced for several years in Chicago before returning to Des Moines in 2024.

Ben is passionate about helping clients navigate the legal system, whether he is guiding a family through the sensitive process of forming an estate plan or advocating for a client in the courtroom. Ben’s primary goal is to take the anxiety out of the legal process by providing the steady, clear guidance needed to protect his clients' interests and prepare them for the future
